It’s said that it takes 21 days to build a new habit. What a weird exact number. But the main thing is, creating a new habit needs some repeating. Some healthy lifestyle habits I’ve aimed for:
♡ drinking enough water throughout the day – ✓
♡ going to bed earlier waking up earlier – ✓
♡ not staring at my phone or laptop right before going to sleep, a book instead – ✓
♡ staying active in everyday life and spending time outside – half ✓ (full ✓ will come with spring & summer)
♡ everything in moderation kind of thinking, listening to my body and mind, and remembering life is meant to be lived and enjoyed – ✓
One thing I haven’t achieved yet: working out in the morning. I often workout in the afternoon, which means I continue doing work stuff after that until late in the evening, and it’s just so unpractical for me. People are often either early birds or night owls, I’m team early bird. After 7PM my brain and body just usually starts to shut down. In the morning an exercise would be like a little positive energy boost before the day starts. Coffee, workout, shower and breakfast, that could work. Spring means lighter mornings, which is another reason. Today I started the day with yoga at a blog event, which inspired me to write my goal down. So I’m gonna find out if that 21 times theory is true with this!
Sanotaan että jotain asiaa täytyy toistaa 21 kertaa ennen kuin siitä tulee pysyvä tapa. Oudon tarkka luku. Oli se totta tai ei, täytyy jotain asiaa toistaa kuitenkin useita kertoja, jotta siitä muodostuu tapa, se on ihan loogista. Tapoja jotka on parantaneet mun hyvinvointia, jotka oon vuosien kuluessa oppinut mutten aina osannut:
♡ veden juominen pitkin päivää – ✓
♡ nukkumaanmeno aiemmin ja herääminen aiemmin – ✓
♡ illalla viimeisenä esim kirjan luku läppärin/kännykällä instan tuijottelun sijaan – ✓
♡ yleinen aktiivisuus, ulkona oleminen ja luonto – puolikas ✓ (kesän ja kevään tullen ✓)
♡ kaikkea kohtuudella ajattelu, oman kehon ja mielen kuuntelu – ✓
Tapa jonka haluaisin mutten ole vielä muodostanut: aamulla treenaaminen. Usein iltapäivällä salille lähtiessä tuntuu että päivä katkeaa liikaa, teen töitä sitten myöhempään illalla, ja aikaa kuluu vain jotenkin hukkaan. Jos treenaisin heti aamusta, se olisi ennen kuin päivä ehtisi kunnolla alkaa, ja aikaa jäisi varmaan enemmän muuhun. Plus ehkä enemmän energiaakin. Oon ehdottomasti enemmän aamu- kuin iltavirkku, kello seitsemältä jo tuntuu kroppa väsyneemmältä ja lepoa tarvitsevalta. Muistin tämän tapatavoitteeni tänään, kun päivä alkoi heti aamusta joogalla blogitilaisuudessa. Eli nyt sitten vain laskemaan, onko tuo 21 toiston teoria totta, hah!

I have always been the one who loved to work out in the am and I’m also a team “early bird” so I can def. relate to body and mind shutting down after 7pm.
I do need to get better at drinking water more often throughout the day. I have just realised that I’m not being as hydrated as I could. I like your workout gear, it’s super cute!

I really need to read a book before bed instead of being on my phone ! Stupid habit.
My healthy habit it’s to go for a run the morning or some yoga. I feel like the day can really start after that.

The only time I can squeeze in a workout is after work, and that’s only if I don’t have plan after (normally during the week). If I worked out in the morning I would have to be up by 4:30AM or 5! I just don’t think I can do that. What do you do to motivate yourself to go to the gym? It’s tough for me after a long day of work to go to the gym but I try to anyway. Any tips?

Yeah, if you have early mornings for work then later the day workout would suit better. Think about that feeling after workout, when your sweaty and feeling just so great. Then you can plan some delicious dinner to have afterwards, shower and food and rest, it feels so good after working out. 🙂 x

Creating new habits is so uplifting! For me it has been
1) drinking enough water
2) having a veggie/fruit-smoothie everyday. These 2 have really improved my skin, digestion and energy level.
I’m still struggling with number 3) going to bed earlier 😉

This is just what i needed to kick start my healthy lifestyle. i was so healthy in January with the motivation of the New Year but now I’ve gotten busier with university exams and deadlines I’ve let it slip a lot and today I’ve eaten so much junk food I feel nauseous. I’ve had a takeaway pizza and a lot of chocolate, oops. But tomorrow I’m ready with my green smoothie and granola for breakfast.

I’m so happy if this was a small help! I have phases too when I eat a lot more junk food, but I’ve learned I enjoy it the most if I don’t eat it all the time, instead in balance with all the healthy food. But I know it’s hard to break a bad cycle. The first thing is, don’t worry about it, it’s not that serious, starting fresh with a green smoothie sounds like a good plan! 🙂 x

All of these are things I too need to start doing, it is so hard sometimes though ! I am especially bad for staring at my phone before bed, it’s one of the worst habits too haha. Yoga sounds so good right now, I may have to do some before bed !
