– I haven’t slept now at all in two nights in a row, I feel exhausted yet I can’t sleep. (Next night I have to.) I’ve stayed up working until the morning “by accident”, that’s when I think there’s no point going to sleep at all. But then I start feeling tired around 12AM so then I nap for an hour or two.
– Because of not sleeping I’ve had weird giggle attacks. After spending the night at my parents when dad came to the living room in the morning, and I was still at the exact same place I was the night before – still working – I just let him know I didn’t go to sleep, while laughing my eyes wide open. It was hard to stop laughing though there was nothing funny about it. My dad just looked at me like I was crazy.
– After coming home I was too lazy to open my suitcase and search for the contact lens holder, so I decided to put my contact lenses in a glass of water. Well what did I do the first thing after waking up, drink that glass of water.
– I’ve eaten my main meal in the middle of the night. And you can imagine how unorganized everything is right now.
– I’ve looked like a bum 24/7.
– At times I feel like the sky is falling down and I’m living in the middle of a chaos, like every part of my life has gone so completely wrong and I have no idea what to do. Go. To. Sleep. That’s what I’ll do next, fingers crossed I’ll go back to being a normal human being soon.
Wish I could have done a how to avoid jet lag post, but no, this is more like a don’t do like I do kinda post. But hey the week has started today, which always means a fresh start!
– En ole nukkunut sen jälkeen yöunia kun olen tullut reissusta perjantaina. Oon tehnyt kaikki yöt töitä aamuun asti “vahingossa”, ja silloin ei ole hyvä aika sitten mennä enää nukkumaan. Päiväsaikaan oon kyllä ottanut parin tunnin päikkäreitä, mutta siinä kaikki. Olo on sen mukainen, jospa vihdoin ensi yönä tulisi unta.
– Nukkumattomuuden vuoksi olen saanut outoja naurukohtauksia. Vanhemmilla käydessäni tein töitä aamuun asti, kun isä sitten tuli olohuoneeseen aamulla ja istuin täsmäälleen samassa sohvan nurkassa koneen kanssa, ilmoitin nauraen että päätin nyt jättää nukkumisen väliin. Naurulle ei meinannut tulla loppua ja silmäni varmaan kiiluivat kuin hullulla, isä vain katsoi suu auki.
– Kotiin saavuttuani päätin laittaa piilolinssini vesilasiin, kun en jaksanut heti avata matkalaukkua ja etsiä piilarikoteloa. No mitäs mä teenkään ensimmäisenä aamulla, juon tuon vesilasillisen.
– Olen näyttänyt reissun jälkeen pummilta 24/7.
– Välillä on tuntunut, että taivas kaatuu niskaan enkä mä vain pysty mihinkään. Kuin jokainen osa-alue elämässä olisi aivan pielessä, enkä tiedä mitä tehdä. Siihen olisi varmasti vain yksi ainut ratkaisu: nukkuminen.
Olisinpa voinut tehdä postauksen miten välttää jet lag, mutta ei. Tämä on nyt tällainen älä tee näin postaus. Tänään sentään alkoi uusi viikko, ja maanantaihan on aina uusi alku! Nyt vain pakotan itseni sänkyyn ennen puolta yötä, nousen sängystä aamulla, ja ei päikkäreitä. Pakostihan sillä keinolla pääsee lopulta taas normaaliin rytmiin?

Well from my experience from travelling from Asia to America, back and forth for a couple of years. Best advice, is get used to the new time schedule wherever you are, meaning if back in finland were 10PM and now in NY were 10AM stay awake. Getting your body used to the new time not the old one.

Yeah that is true. I need to try harder, the biggest mistake I’ve made is napping in the daytime, which I did right after coming home on Friday. That’s when it started, couldn’t sleep then the next night and the cycle continued… Thanks for the comment Jo! 🙂

I hope you’re gonna have a great sleeping night. You really need to prepare your brain to your time zone. Go to sleep when it’s time not when you’re feel tired, even if you stay in bed with your eyes open. It’s gonna be easily for your brain to remember when it’s time to sleep 😉

Jet lag is the absolute worst! I totally feel for you! I always try to jump right into the routine of whatever timezone I’m in. Even if I lay in bed awake, I’ll force myself to be there all night, eat meals at the right times and not nap in the middle of the day. It’s a rough first few days but it helps in the long run.

Ahh, sounds terrible, I hope you feel better soon! My tip would be to go to bed, play some sleep playlist on spotify and just try to rest a bit…and of course don’t drink contact lenses water again haha

Jet lag sucks. I always find not sleeping on the plane and then forcing myself to be on the time zone of wherever I am the best way to handle it! Which means going to bed to stare at the ceiling for hours sometimes.
